COMMUNITY

OUR COMMUNITY

At Greenacre International School we support the philosophy that there are a range of experiences that support our children’s learning journey and that school is not just a place to go to learn.

We believe that community engagement plays a valuable role in helping shape our students to become more socially and environmentally aware young people.  We are fortunate that there are a number of community based initiatives that our students can work interactively with on Koh Samui.

Encouraging our students to  make a difference in the world, teaches them compassion, kindness and understanding.

Students from across the key stages have connected with a range of projects including:

Sisters on Samui – Feed Samui Campaign – This initiative saw our children contribute to a show box appeal for Myanmar families on Samui, affected by the Covid -19  global pandemic. Students gifted a range of toys and essentials to Burmese families who suffered hardship and job losses as tourism suddenly declined.

Pariah Dog  – Students and their families collected dog food for one the rescues close to the school. Many students have dogs and compassion for all living things is a key principle that the Greenacre family collectively share. Students were rewarded with a visit from the rescue who brought some dogs to be loved and petted.

Koh Tan Conservation  – Environmentality is a key strand of the Greenacre curriculum and so we are especially delighted to forge links with this marine biology based group right on our doorstep. Students have learned about the waters around Samui, spent time wild foraging and camping on Koh Tan and learning how to survive on a desert island. By bringing environmental awareness to our students we are helping nurture the future custodians of the planet.
