“Science is magic that works.” – Kurt Vonnegut

The English national curriculum for science aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
  • develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
  • are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future

Here at Greenacre we think science is like magic because of its amazing ability to transform our understanding of the world and achieve what once seemed impossible.

Here’s a brief explanation of why science can be considered as the “magic that works”:

Explaining the Unexplainable: Just like magic, science has the power to unravel mysteries.

Creating Wonders: Science enables us to create and do things that would have been considered miraculous in the past.

Pushing Boundaries: Science constantly pushes the boundaries of what we believe is possible.

Empowering Change: Just as a wizard might wield a wand to change their surroundings, science gives us the tools to change the world.

Inspiring Awe and Wonder: Above all, science inspires a sense of awe and wonder – much like a magic show.

In essence we believe that science is like magic because it opens up a world of possibilities, transforms our understanding, and brings the realm of imagination into reality. It’s the magic that not only works but it is continually evolving.

We aim to inspire your child to become curious and ask questions in order to learn more about the world around them.
